Friday July 19 Zippin Griffin

I arrived in Hardy, Arkansas on Thursday evening and found the Zippin Griffin office.

I returned the next morning and the manager, Melanee, was able to get me on an 11:00 A.M. tour. It was a lot of fun. I was with four kids who had never zipped before. Ages 7, 8, 9 & 11.

There were 5 smaller lines through the camp and one long line that was 1800 feet long and 350 feet high...it was awesome; over 50 mph!

My wonderful guides were Joseph and Travis!

Thursday July 18 Iron Horse Zipline

When driving to BRCT that morning, I had past a sign that said Zipline, so I went to investigate and found the Iron Horse Zipline at Horseshoe Canyon. I met the owner of Horseshoe Canyon, Barry Johnson, and he sent me out with two great guides, Morgan and Rudy.

Morgan and I climbed a very steep, high, rocky path to the top of a ledge where I was strapped into a harness. I zipped a 1/2 mile at speeds of up to 60 mph. What an awesome view and the speed was exhilarating!

Loved it!

Rudy was waiting at the end where he set a compression spring that stopped me when I got to the end.

This is a dude ranch and has any other activities.

Thursday July 18 Buffalo River Canopy Tour Ponca, Arkansas

I drove to Buffalo River Canopy Tour in Ponca, Arkansas on Wednesday afternoon even though I know they are only open Thursday through Sunday. I was in luck and there was someone at the office who booked me for a 9:00 A.M. tour the next morning.

After checking in at 8:30 A.M. I drove about 5 miles to the start of the tour. After a safety speech from Traci, she released us into the capable hands of Lisa and Beth who did an awesome job of keeping us safe and having fun!

It was a very enjoyable tour!

Wednesday July 17 Ozark Mountain Zipline

I drove down to Eureka Springs, Arkansas to another zipline owned by Robert Nichols. He also trains many of the guides and inspects ziplines all over the states.

Robert had called Will and Kendra, who co-own and manage Ozark Mountains Zipline, and set up a 4:00 P.M. zip for me, however just after 3:30 it started raining hard. Zipping is OK in the rain, but it started thundering and lightning, so that canceled that! Don't want to be on a steel cable in the treetops during a lightning storm!

So, Kendra rescheduled me for a 9:00 A.M. tour.

I got back to OMZ about 8:00 A.M. and had a great 10 line tour through the beautiful Ozark Mountains. My great guides were Corey and Brian who kept us safe and entertained!

Tuesday July 16 Zipline USA

I checked out of my hotel early and drove to Reeds Spring where I visited Zipline USA owned by Robert and Joanna Nickell.

Robert Nickell began the zipline craze when he started building ziplines in Costa Rica in the '80s. I will write more on him and the history of ziplining later. Really enjoyed meeting him and Joanna. He has also built many of the courses in the states.

His courses are always great with very little walking.

Thoroughly enjoyed zipping the 12 lines of his canopy tour with my awesome guides Derek and Zane.

Monday July 15 Branson Zipline and Canopy Tour

Great time at Branson Zipline and Canopy Tour at Wolfe Creek! Loved the tour with my wonderful guides, Travis and Robert! Beautiful views of the Ozark Mountains through a nice canopy!

The tour began with a ride to the top of Wolfe Mountain in a Pinzgauer Swiss Army jeep.

I did the Canopy Adventure Combo that has 8 ziplines and 10 sky bridges.

One of the lines is the Blue Streak Fast Line; long and fast

I also did the Freefall Xpress in which I jumped off a 100 foot tower. It gives a real adrenaline rush! A line stops you just before you hit the ground!

Located 7 miles North of Branson.
