Thursday August 1 Royal Gorge Zipline

At 8:00 A.M. we zipped the Extreme Zipline course of 11 lines. My awesome guides were Colin and Scott.

The course was excellent. The lines are higher, longer and faster than the Classic tour, plus there is a 70 ft rappel down at the end, however, it is mechanical and does not let you fall very fast. Longest line 1700 feet.

The walking was all uphill, but we stopped along the way at water stations to re-hydrate, so it was fine!

I loved the views from here! Colorado is so beautiful!

I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the 2 zip courses, Jimmy Whiteside!

Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Wednesday July 31 Royal Gorge Ziplining Canon City, Colorado

I arrived late afternoon, but the manager, Casey was able to get me on a 4:30 P.M. tour. My awesome guides were Colin and Katie. The views were gorgeous! I loved every minute of my experience. We did have some hiking on this course, but the guides stopped along the way for us to catch our breath. I am still not use to the high altitude, but it wasn't too bad!

They have 9 awesome lines with great views!

Wednesday July 31 Captain Zipline Salida, Colorado

I arrived in Salida on Tuesday night and arrived at Captain Zipline on Wednesday morning about 8:30 A.M. Monty Holmes is the owner and creator of Captain Zipline. The manager, Pat was able to book me on a 10 A.M. tour. The office was in town, so we were driven in a van, about 10 miles, out to the course. The views are magnificent!

Erynn and Josh were great guides. Josh knew a lot about the history and geology of the area; which I love hearing about!

There was quite a bit of walking, but the guides stop for us to take a breather. I was still having problems breathing from the high altitude, but I didn't slow anyone down!

There are 7 lines of various lengths. We learned about the history, flors and fauna of the area

Glove braking.

Great area for a zipline. Nice views.

Tuesday July 30 AVA Colorado Zipline Tours Buena Vista, Colorado

I drove to AVA Zipline in Buena Vista and arrived about 1:30 P.M. I was able to get on a 3:00 P.M. tour. The views of the Arkansas River were magnificent. My awesome guides were Amanda and Valerie. I loved it! They have 3,000 feet of cable on 5 lines, with block braking and double trolleys.

The Granite outpost is 44 acres with tall pines and craggy rock outcroppings.

Whitewater rafting is also available.

Tuesday July 30 Top of the Rockies Zipline

I arrived at Top of the Rockies in Leadville, Colorado, late afternoon Monday and was able to talk to the manager, Oz, and the owner, Judy to set up a tour for the next morning.

I spent the night at Crystal Lakes where I had a beautiful view at 9,400 foot elevation.

I arrived early the next morning and rode the 6-ton Monster Truck up to the first zip platform. I then zipped 5 lines with views of the tallest peak in Colorado, Mount Elbert, as well as, the 3rd highest peak. 4 of the lines were dual lines so even though we had 20 people on the tour, we zipped pretty quickly!

We zipped over the tracks of the the Historic Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad.

We were at an elevation of 11,200 feet. There was very little uphill walking, the walking we did was mostly downhill!

We saw continental divide views of 14,000 ft mountains, streams and canyons.

Absolutely beautiful views!  Oz, the manager, was one of my guides and Carlos, Ben and Jay were the other 3. They used a block brake with a catcher on the end so that no one could slide back out onto the line. They also have a 2 trolley line.

Thank you Ewan for the pictures!
